3 Musketeers Ride Again: August 18, 2019

We realized that we were ahead of schedule and would show up in North Logan a day too early.  So we thought we would just do a couple of days in Pocatello, Idaho.  Last night we were again having some issues getting a booking in Pocatello so we decided to put off make a reservation until the morning.

We headed over to the main house for breakfast.  And we thought that yesterday’s breakfast was good!  This one was just excellent.  After sitting around the breakfast table for a couple of hours exchanging stories with the other travellers as well as Sherrie and Marty we were walking back to our cabins when we commented about what a great setting this place was and how much we had enjoyed being here.

Well the next thing you know, we are back in the main house asking if we could stay another night.  YeeHaa, permission granted.

We decided that we would ride into town have some lunch and to find an ATM, some mild libation and a pair of shorts for Larry.  Our on-going endless search for the perfect Ma & Pa eatery led us straight to a Subway were we met a Ducati rider named Doug who owns a real-estate company in Kalispell. It was great talking with Doug as we got a real sense of what is happening with the economy in this area, and its not all peaches and cream here either.  He has also suffered a severe setback in July as an arsonist set fire to his business building.

Afterwards we found an ATM, a western supply store and a source of libation, all with in a couple of blocks of walking.

Afternoon snack of fresh picked apples and raspberries

We had a real surprise in store for us as Sherrie and Marty invited us over to their place for supper.  Completely unexpected this was.  We joined them on the deck of their home to find another big surprise in that they were about to treat us to a steak meal.  And not just any steak, they have a smoker, so we had these incredible smoke cured then BBQ’ed steaks.

One for the King’s Brewers Club

As the sunset and the evening cooled from the daytime high of 33 degrees we had a marvelous time as they shared stories and adventures of their previous jobs and various endeavours. Again we gained a deeper insight into some of the pressing local issues.  What a terrific  evening it has been.  Thank you so much Sherrie and Marty.  You have made this a very memorable couple of days that I am sure the three of us (be we Musketeers or Stooges) will treasure for a very long time.

  1. Sounds like a great adventure. Larry – Spike is having a terrific holiday here but he misses his Mom and Dad. We are having great fun having him around.

    1. Glad you are getting the updates. Tell Spike I sure miss him.
I have even resorted to petting some cats at the B&B.

      Larry
