We planned a fairly quiet day to get things done around the RV and bike etc. I started the day with a bit of a walk while Greg got waylaid by a man wanting to know about the lift for the bike on the back of the truck. This is a common occurrence.  From our labours we did take a trip to the locksmith to get replacement keys for the ones I lost.  We were able to get most of them replicated so I now have my own set again.  A stop at the grocery store, which included some butter tarts that Steve recommended, and we were back on site. Greg did many things on the bike and got it reloaded on the truck.  Steve and Patty came for supper and we used the outside grill for the first time. Kubi-burgers, kubi-wieners,(made without MSG or gluten by Greg’s Cousin’s at Widynowski’s at 4204-118 Ave, Edmonton) , selection of salad and we forced ourselves to open a bag of Covered Bridge Kettle chips we bought in Hartland. A new addiction thanks to Marilyn C.  The butter tarts were yummy but even yummier with real whipped cream.  Nice to sit outside and relax with friends.

Travel day, heading to Milton Heights.  We had no other reason to go to Milton except that it was close to Mississauga and Greg’s cousin. Greg spent quite awhile last night working out a route so that we didn’t have to go on the 401.  I was given written instructions and did the navigation with the help of google maps. Greg’s GPS kept wanting us to go on the 401.  After going through some pretty rural countryside and smaller towns we took the 407. This is a toll road that is all done electronically. They take a picture of your license plate and send you the bill in the mail. We hope that the cameras were pointed only on the front of the vehicle so they wouldn’t get our license. I suspect this is wishful thinking on our part.  Traffic wasn’t too bad till we got closer to Toronto. Can’t see that I would want to live there and, if I did, I would certainly look for some way of commuting so I wouldn’t have to drive everyday.  We arrived in good time and got the AC going in the RV. Temperature in the high 20s and humid. The AC worked constantly and didn’t stop till mid evening. Even Kenneth (brother) would be too warm.  A sad part to our day was when Greg called Linda to arrange times to visit but she was unable to have us visit her. She is in the middle of flair up of her lupus and wasn’t really able to get out of bed. I think when we made arrangements with her to visit and confirmed these a few days ago she hoped she would be well enough.  So sorry to not see her but Greg had a nice long phone call.  If we had known we would have touched base with our friends in Cleveland and hopefully they could have popped over to Toronto.  Maybe next time.

As we weren’t able to visit Linda we had a quiet day.  Greg checked tire pressures and we went and got fuel for our travel day tomorrow.  The idea did present itself that since we were out we might want to look for Starbucks and as we had our travel mugs with us we could do our bit for the environment.  As we pulled into the center where there was a Starbucks we saw a Baskin and Robbins. I haven’t been to B&R for years, since they disappeared from Edmonton. So we made a slight detour and I tried the chocolate and peanut butter and Greg had pralines and cream. Thank heavens we only had one scoop in a cup. Rich and filling. We did not check out the calories and fat content that were nicely printed on the little card under the name of the ice-cream. Back to the RV and the air conditioning (29C + humidity). Not complaining, we are enjoying the sunshine.
