From See Two See: June 28, 2019

When we were in Levis, Greg started plotting our route to see our friends in Ontario and also started looking and calling places to make a reservation. When many of the ones we called or emailed kept saying that they were full we suddenly realized the date and that a long week-end was coming up. So today we drove from Levis, Quebec to Lansdowne, Ontario, as that is where we could get a reservation for one night at least.  We knew it could be a long day.

We thought if we headed out early we would miss much of the traffic heading off early for the long week-end.  We were wrong. Greg had this fear that our GPS  would take us right through Montreal so my job was to keep checking google maps on my phone to make sure that this was not going to happen and that the Garmin route and the google route matched (which they frequently didn’t). We did pass on the outskirts and the traffic was almost bumper to bumper till we were well past the city.  To keep our minds from wandering too far from the roads and traffic we counted RVs and motorcycles. I even had a piece of paper out to make a mark when I saw one. Our total was 312 RVs and 182 motorcycles. I am sure there were more that I missed specially in the traffic around Montreal. We didn’t even stop to take a picture all day.

Our spot at Lansdowne KOA was a bit interesting. The backing in was not so much of an issue but the trucks, cars, tables and firepits did provide a bit of an obstacle course. Greg did his magic, with me on the ham radio indicating that he was on course to miss a tree etc.  We did have a lovely pine tree right at our door that we brushed against every time we went in and out.  Now to decide where we might stay for the next few days. We had an option to stay in the driveway of our friend’s aunt but by some chance Greg went on-line and discovered that the KOA in Brighton, ON had a cancellation and had one spot left. It was soon ours. A relief. Not that we mind staying in a driveway but we don’t want to inconvenience someone we don’t know.
