We won’t write too much today as the pictures are self-explanatory. In the morning we did a 3 km walk down to the boat dock at West Brook Pond and took a 2 hour boat trip on one of the last wild oligotrophic lakes in the world, through glacier carved fjords. We will leave it to you to look up what oligotrophic means. The main point is that once it is gone it can never be replaced. So beautiful.
Later in the afternoon we went to Tablelands-giant peridotite rocks that once were part of the earth’s mantle. It was quite amazing to know that we were hiking on the oldest rocks on the earth. This is the ONLY accessible place on the planet that you can walk on rocks that are about 550 million years old.

Wow!!
That was pretty much our reaction.
Boy Greg, that makes you seem awfully young compared to that old rock.
A mere infant at best.
Good to see you guys yesterday. Looking forward to seeing how the rest of the trip goes. There’s a cup of tea, a bathroom and wifi should you be passing through town on your way back!
We really enjoyed the visit. Thanks so much for the invite for tea. As you have figured out, we are mostly making things up on the fly, so we are not sure where we are heading next.
