From See Two See: June 01, 2019

Two things stood out on our way to the Ferry. We stopped to get fuel and saw a truck pull in to the pumps where the diesel was. He looked at us and then got back into his truck and moved to a different pump so we would have access to the diesel. I went over to thank him and he said that he had had a diesel truck and it always bothered him when people would tie up the pump where the diesel was when there were a dozen others free. Then we went off to find the ferry terminal and made the mistake of following the GPS which took us to some back street.  We could see where we needed to go but there were no signs to show us how to get there. I asked a young man who was coming out of the bank. He said the directions are a bit complicated so “just follow me”.  We followed him right up to the check in point and he waved and went on his way.

In line bright and early (maybe not exactly bright in this fog)

We took our allotted place in the line up and after a couple of hours we boarded the ferry.  We had reserved a cabin and so dropped off our stuff and did a tour of the ferry. Found a food place and had a great bowl of soup.  We settled in our cabin to pass the 7 hour uneventful ferry ride.  As we came into the dock the first thing we saw was snow in the hills.

Newfoundland snow & fog

We searched for signs of our B & B which was near the terminal.  From the ferry we could see what we believed was the B&B. Although it was only about 60 meters from the ferry, we had to drive about 6 kilometers to get there. When we got to the Radio Station B&B a note was on the door saying go on in and choose your room, make yourself at home and someone would be along shortly.

Our B&B on the right is 6 km away by road (picture taken from the ferry)

That is what we did and sure enough someone did come over to welcome us.  We walked downtown to the only restaurant we could find and joined another couple staying at the same B & B for supper.  Bill & Gayle were from Moncton and had come over to see the icebergs. Greg also met a couple of motorcyclists who were heading to Alberta and then down into Oregon.  One of them just had his license for a month. Got guts.  Watching the hockey game as the other couple liked hockey…..

One a totally different note, Carol from Carol’s Sweets has just let us know that she now carries Ganong Chicken Bones all 12 months of the year and of course she makes a whole range of great chocolate taste bud tantalizers from real chocolate. For a taste of Carol’s Sweets (click here).
