From See Two See: May 30, 2019

Harts Lake where 2 of our nephews live.

No posting for the last couple of days as we were getting organized to head out for Newfoundland. Taking stuff out of the truck, putting other stuff in the truck, packing stuff, unpacking the same stuff, packing different stuff, unpacking that stuff, replacing it with some of the original stuff. Checking the riding gear, finding places for the riding gear, checking the motorcycle, packing stuff on the motorcycle and the list goes on. Ferry booked (booked a room with 4 bunks, I guess in case we pick up hitch-hikers) and a b&b for our first night. Did have a lovely dinner with some of the family last night. Hardest part was deciding what to take with us; cold, cool or nice summer weather? Good guess.

They even sell Slingshot

So off we go and our first stop is a motorcycle plus store in Dieppe (near Moncton). Big. I (Marion) got 15 minutes of exercise on my fitbit just walking around the store.  Impressive store and even cool washrooms.

Six star hotel, nope, motorcycle shop.

Of course me (Greg) being a motorcyclist I could not pass up the chance to see Rallye Motoplex. When I managed the BMW section of Argyll Motorsports it was known as the Atlantic Motoplex. I regularly traded inventory with them. The real reason we stopped though, was so I could pick up a gelseat or an Airhawk cushion for my sciatic which has acted up some in the last few days. Anyhow, back to Rallye Motoplex. About 2 years ago the Rallye Motor Group purchased Atlantic Motoplex. Short version…HOLY COW, what a class act. BMW, Ducati, Triumph, Indian, Suzuki, Yamaha, boats, quads, sleds, PWC and just about anything else you can imagine. HUGE and gorgeous. And yes, they did have the Airhawk seats.

Antigonish Town Hall

We left NB and into NS.  We wondered when blueberries would be ready so we could stop at Oxford (wild blueberry capital in Canada).   Tatamagouche…just cause I like the name.  Colchester balefill facility – discovered this was the name of the dump in Colchester… had to look this one up.  Did a quick tour through Antigonish. For those who like trivia, Brian Mulroney is an alumni of St FX (university in Antigonish) .

Almost in Cape Breton

I always think we are going into a new province or territory when we go across the Canso Straight into Cape Breton Island. I suspect in many ways it is as to me there is a different culture in Cape Breton.  We were going to stop somewhere in CB but kept going to North Sydney. This is where we catch the ferry for NFLD.  Found an old hotel/motel and settled in for the night.

Almost in Sydney and finally some blue sky

  1. Glad you managed to find a gel seat big enough to fit you.
    Your Bro🤪

    1. I just KNOW that’s a compliment about how much weight I have lost.
